Chapter 3: Foundations of Human Activity
In this chapter, we learned mainly about historical settlements and cultures. Los Angeles was founded on September 4, 1781, by Spanish governor Felipe de Neve. As Mexico declared its independence from Spain in 1821, Los Angeles became a part of Mexico. However, Mexican-American War occurred from 1846 to 1848. The origin of the war is territorial expansionism of the United States. At the end of the war, the United States took California. Today, Los Angeles is one of the largest multi-cultural cities. So, there are a wide variety of religions, including Catholic, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Sikhism and others.
